Besnilo (2019)
for violin, and piano
‘Besnilo’ is a fast paced piece of music that operates with additive time signatures. The word ‘Besnilo,’ from Macedonian translates to ‘furious,’ or, ‘furiously.’ Rhythmically furious, the melody follows a trajectory that operates with a smooth quality, creating a contrast to the driving rhythm. Interjections of compound meters appear in the middle of the composition to create a momentary unbalance, a ripple in the fast flowing rhythm, yet, the drive continues and modulates several times to further diversify the melodic and harmonic elements.
